Dr. Montgomery - 2 Months - Immunizations

Today Christian had his first immunizations. Last night Jonny read about other children that have been through this and how they screamed for hours or even days. He found out about Infant Tylenol and the importance of bringing milk to the doctor's appointment. Thanks to Jonny we were well prepared for what we thought was going to be terrible.

First Christian weighed in at 8.5 pounds!! WHAT? Something seems wrong there. It says 4.9 Kg before that - that is 10 pounds. 8.5 Kg would be 18 pounds. Is he 18 pounds? Hmmm... he is really heavy now. Maybe he is. I don't know. Anywho - he is 61 cm which is 2 ft. tall. Whatever he is - he is growing and healthy. On the charts he still is in the upper median group. Jonny thinks he heard 13 pounds.
Christian got his immunizations. One oral, and three shots. Two in one thigh and one in the other. He screamed after the first one through till the last one. Then, I hugged him and he stopped crying. I gave him some milk and he was all good. Dr. M was good at this. He had the shots all ready and the band aids out of their packs on on his hand so he could stick, clean, and apply the band aid in one fell swoop.
When we got home we gave him a millilitre of Infant Advil. Here is our son after his first immunizations... sleeping!

eye lashes!!
And now we are going for a walk in our new  baby carrier.  Thank-you to the Surrey Secondary Dance Teachers' Association for the gift card that allowed us to buy this awesome front, back, and hip pack.
With STARS!! Sorry Jonny.. I had to!!

Christian Gets a Passport

Jonny wants CRAB - so we have to get Christian a passport. Personally, I think it is kind of ridiculous that a baby needs a passport. I mean - babies all kind of look like babies. Trying to get the passport photo of a newborn is difficult and Jonny got pictures of it.

But hey - with a mug shot like that... you can't go wrong. Crab Pot here we come!

The Last Appointment with Dr. Spehar and Meeting More Cousins!

Today it has been six weeks since Christian was born. That means I get to go and visit Dr. Spehar and get the ok to go back to all the fun stuff I love to do. AND, hopefully, I can get enough sleep to do some of those things.
It was a cold but sunny day here in Vancouver. Christian got bundled up in his stroller and out we went. He was super good at the doctor's office. He made me proud. Dr. Spehar even said how great he was. She also said he had super cute lippies.

I profusely thanked Dr. Spehar for being my doctor and bringing Christian into the world. I think she did an awesome job. She IS pregnant - you could totally tell today. I am going to miss her. What a great overall experience I have had with this whole baby thing so far.

Dr. Spehar talked about birth control, checked my stitches, did a nice pelvic exam, and checked my uterus. All good!

Next, we went to meet favourite cousin Alison at Taco Del Mar where we dined on mondos - her treat! Thanks Ali! Ali was lucky enough to score a smile from Christian. I must say Alison's hair is doing something magical today. She sure looks pretty. Maybe it is that, "I just spent a month in Hawaii," glow?

Christian and I returned home just in time to get fussy. He is definitely having some gas issues. I have read that that goes on during weeks 6-8 and today is day one of week six. Right on schedule little guy.

Chuck texted that he was in the hood so come on over! It was great to see cousin Charlie too. He has the, "I just got back from LA," look. Unfortunately, he came over during the fussy part and didn't get a lot of good cuddles. However, I did manage to get a few shots where Christian wasn't screaming :-)

I did get to go to Bikram for the first time today and when I got back Daddy was having a tough time with the boy. I washed my new yoga clothes (thanks Arlene!) so I could wear them in the morning... and Jonny was calming the boy on the dryer.

This last picture is from bath time the other day. And with that... good night!!

Christmas, Christmas, New Years!

Christian's first Christmas was exhausting. We had been parents for just over a month and if you have even been a parent you know what that means - you are tired and you have realized that nothing may ever go as you had planned ever again. Disillusioned. So much for being a control freak. Fail to plan or plan to fail... I think I read that in a school agenda. I don't plan to fail but all my plans fail! hahaa! Ok - not funny - but I am tired and anything is funny or, agrivating.

Christian's first Christmas dinner was at our place on Christmas Eve. We had Jonny's mom, Arlene, over for the first time and she helped Jon make dinner. Christian and Phil also came over to help us celebrate. Everything turned out great thanks to Grandma Arlene's good cooking skills. (Even though she says it was bad - she was lying ... cause everything tasted awesome!)

We had some family Christmas time on Christmas morning.

On Christmas day we drove out to Langley for our second Christmas dinner. There was baby holding, turkey eating, and present opening. (And a trip to 711 with Bellerina for sugar... to keep Jonny and I awake!)
Christian's first ensemble is a "Santa's Little Helper" piece later spat up on.

Laya is getting tall!

Here we see Christian in his second outfit that was just a little too hot!

Christian bears an edgy diaper and long sleeve look to cool down.

Dad's first attempt at bacon turkey - Sam's Epic Meal Time influence no doubt.

Too small :-(

New Years we spent at home doing the usual baby things. We were going to go out for dinner but Christian was being fussy and we didn't think everyone else out celebrating the new year would enjoy dining with our little fuss podge. Instead I ran out and got us Chronic Tacos and we did a baby photo shoot in front of the TV.
Happy New Year everyone!!
